Current mood: cranky

I've come here to rant about an LJ poster
Okay, I totally believe that everyone should write whatever version of QAF fic they want. Vampires, the Middle Ages, BDSM,  whatever--if I don't like it, I just don't read it.  I also don't think mpreg is the doom of all humankind and I even have lots of fun reading and mocking bad!fic. I think new writers should be encouraged, even if my encouragement also consists of suggesting a beta and an English class. Write, I say, WRITE. For the loss of the written word IS the doom of all humankind.

I mean, my DOG writes QAF fanfic.  So I believe all of what I just said, I really, really do. So why is there this one poster in one of the communities that I belong to on LJ that even the sight of her posts causes me to want to take away her computer and her QAF DVDs? And I'd like her to be banned from the Internet for life. And I'm totally, totally opposed to violence, but would it really be that bad to break all her fingers so that she can't keyboard?

Has anyone else had this experience? If I leave a community just so that I don't have to see her stupid posts and her user name on my flist am I taking this all just a little too seriously?  Or are you going to hand me a hammer to use on her keyboard?

I am with you on your normal state of being, your normal state of not just tolerance, but encouragement; however, I have to admit there's been times where I've stumbled upon something that just really annoyed me, because of its stupidity. It's the same feeling I get when there's an argument with someone who's blatantly illogical and there's no getting through. It's just. Sometimes teh wrong is really frustrating.

I can't even think of a constructive suggestion to give her. Others tried at first, but she doesn't even get comments now. It's like she was truly unable to apply their suggestions (and somewhat unwilling) but she just keeps on posting and posting and posting.

I just feel like talking to you. I miss your irreplaceable presence here, your intelligence and humor and forthrightness. You're something special. A rare and adored individual, fair and unequivocally classy. I weep for you and hope for you and think of you often. I just wanted you to know that.

I've stumbled on stuff that straight out frightened the crap out of me. I say go ahead and defriend, if only for your sanity.

There is good stuff in the community too, that I would like to see, but just the sight of her posts makes me irrationally angry. If there's no way to block just one user name, I might have to leave the community!

I totally get that. I have several people who make me feel the same. And yes, it gets to the point where I don't even read their postings - just seeing the username is too much already. So do what you feel better with - defriend, leave the comm, etc.

Yeah, I don't read her posts, it's just seeing that she is still posting and posting and posting that jibberish, that makes me crazy!

Have you tried the Flist filter?

Not sure if you can apply it to comms, but maybe?

I'm pretty ignorant of how these journal things work, but I might read through the Help and the FAQs and see if I can block her posts without having to quit the whole community. It makes me that angry, which IS sort of crazy, I know.

Sweetie, we could ALWAYS use a Hummer in this situation. Truly, I have implicit trust in your jugement. Let's do something. And I give you my latest Ben icon, cause it should make you feel better.

Yes, we need to take a Hummer to her computer, her DVD player, her "fiction" and whatever else it takes to eradicate her from the fandom.

Your icon is pretty, so pretty!

There are sadly a few people I can think of you might be talking about. ;)

It's just indescribably bad. She can't even tell a story. Utter cluelessness as far as plot, characterization, narrative, and, well, everything else, too.

I think you're going to have that with every comm when it comes to fics. For me, the deciding factor would be that if the comm has more bad!fic writers than good, then I'd definitely defriend the comm and her. I don't think that's overreacting. You're here for fun, not stress.

I normally just don't read stuff I don't like, but this one makes me irrationally angry! She's just SO bad at the entire idea of writing a story and she posts and posts and posts.

While I feel your pain, I have to say that you have me rotf. Finger Breaking? *dies laughing*

I think there may be a way to filter...I don't know if it works on comms, though.

I'm not going to break her fingers. At least, I don't think so. Right now. I'm trying to see the humor in it-that someone just posting makes me so irate-but I'm not there yet.

I need to figure out if you can block a person's post, even when they post in a community you belong to.
